Welcome

Hi! For our first post on the blog, we will aquaint you with how the blog works. For starters, Leslie will be blogging on Tueday and Thursday, Elizabeth will be blogging on Monday and Wednesday. Friday will be our special day, with possible appearances by guest bloggers and writers. Every week we will set a theme for you to write on. At the end of the week we will post our favorite 2 stories. Send the stories to yawhowrite@gmail.com We do filter all comments and stories. We would like it if nothing pushes PG. Have fun reading and writing!

  3. This looks great! I have a few questions, though. What format do you intend to use for your reviews? Who is your intended audience? What is the point of your reviews, that is, what information are you trying to give your readers?
With what criteria will you be judging the stories submitted each week, to choose your favorites?

  4. Leslie said that you girls are hoping for a large readership (which is necessary if you're expecting more than 2 stories a week), so here's a tip from a blogger, blog reader, and blog studier (me): one of the best ways to keep people reading and interacting on your blog is to answer every comment you receive. This makes readers feel welcome and like they're a part of the blog.
As a blog "expert" has said:
Encourage comments on your own blog. One of the most powerful ways to convince someone to become a loyal reader is to show there are other loyal readers already following your work. If they see people commenting on your blog then they infer that your content must be good since you have readers so they should stick around and see what all the fuss is about. To encourage comments you can simply pose a question in a blog post. Be sure to always respond to comments as well so you can keep the conversation going.

A few other tips for the same purpose (increasing your readership):
. Find other blogs with similar interests and comment on them.
. Link to other blogs and websites.
. Put the link to your blog in your email signature.
. Have a concise about page that clearly states the blog's purpose. (the description in your header is a great start)

I hope those can help! So far, I think you girls are doing a great job with this and I am very eager to see how you continue. :)

Wishing you well for God's glory,
    Hannah

(Oh, and if you're keen on comments, having a Top Commenters widgit on the sidebar is a great lure for some people. :)

  5. Well, my reviews are going to be pointed to young adults. I am going to try and give a christian view on all the books I review.

  6. The basis on our story judging is creativity, quality, personal belief and length. (less than a thousand, more than two hundred)

  7. My reviews will range a between YA books and adult books, I don't really intend on sticking to one impaticular age and genre. I will also be giving my reviews in a Christian viewpoint, because my beliefs are very important to me (One warning--I am very critical, so you might find me overeacting in some instances.)
